NO to store bought ♥ Say YES to handmade ♥

So my first Holiday Suggestion will combine two of my friends shops. Pink PolkaDot Studio here and KustomKids Boutique here.

There is nothing a child likes better then a gift that you can work on together. My daughter loves these kinds of gifts. It's different and exciting and will grab there attention. You will need a sewing machine though (but I believe everyone should have one anyway!) And you can get them so cheap these days. Girls from 7-15 would love this.

So my idea is, go to Cristies Boutique and order a pattern. She has them from simple to hard and they come with her help and in ebook form. You can print it out and punch holes and put a big red ribbon in the corner. Then go over to Linda's shop and grab a yard or two of fabric. Both of these woman are great to work with.

Another suggestion is order the pattern, buy the fabric and give it to a friend that sews. A perfect gift for under $25. Most woman who sew can't resist new fabric and patterns.

This is what I love about etsy, you get such quality for such unbelievable prices. And if your a designer and need a great photograpgher, contact Christie, Ferry Christie's daughter is a great model and helped me make Etsy's front pge!

NO to store bought ♥ Say YES to handmade ♥

Spreading the Spirit!! Over the next few weeks, I will be searching etsy and other places and suggesting some homemade and small boutique type gifts. Even though the Walmart commercials are very sweet this year, I 'm going to try and do the right thing. Which means, supporting small businesses, friends businesses and handmade USA.

And I am coming from the mentality that we are not in competition with each other, there is pleanty of business for everyone!

Etsy has been very good to me this year. I really just started selling last November and hopefully by Christmas will hit 2,000 sales. If I didn't need this business to support myself and my child, I would have been thrilled with the year I have had. Actually I am thrilled, this boutique world is a new world to me and a new market. I am really pleased with the progress I have made and looking forward to expanding and growing by leaps and bounds next year!

Check back tomorrow for 2 of my favorites on Etsy for a gift you can make yourself.

Barter for an outfit..help!

is there anyone out there who know how to put music on my blog--i will give you an outfit up to size 5 if someone can set me up with some tunes:)

Give Thanks...

Oh, thus be it ever when free men shall stand,
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation;
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Power that has made and preserved us as a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust";
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

The last paragraph in the Star Spangled Banner, powerful words. Thanks to all the sons, fathers, brothers and woman who have given their lives for our freedom.

All Hallows Eve

Happy Halloween! Because it's only my daughter and myself here and we usually celebrate all the holidays at my mothers house, I try and make memories for her when I can in our little apartment. Its good for me and her. Last night I was able to put all financial concerns to the side and enjoy the night. I love having parties and usually have a big halloween or Christmas party. Although not fancy, they still cost a fortune. So instead last night a had a few friends over. On a shoe string I was able to creaet a cozy memorable evening. In one of my Susan Branch books (http://www.susanbranch.com/) she talks about creating a good party, low lights, nice smells coming from the kitchen, music and of course, great frinds.
I went down to the farmers market and got
3 pumpkins $5 ea
Pear Cider $5
cin sugar donuts 5 for $2
A bag of apples $5
gourds for decoration
and tiny pears decoration and food.
We made homemade pizza amd pumkin pie. My dd sturffed the crust with cheese, delicious! We carved pumpkins, roasted pumpkin seeds and OMG I never did that before, so good!Wash seeds coat with olive oil and salt, then bake for 20 minutes at 325. We Played boggle and watched Charlie Brown's Halloween. A lovely evening.

My Scrabble/boggle friend:)

Baby Pears

Jack O'Lanterns

Have a safe and fun Halloween!
